During your consultation you will discuss with your provider your areas of concern and your desired outcome. The actual Botox procedure is relatively quick, lasting approximately 10-20 minutes. Our medical assistant is often on hand to take your before and after photos and provide ice after treatment. Before leaving you will be provided with post care instructions. How long does Botox last?
Botox lasts on average, 3-4 months. We recommend retreatment at that time. As you continue to get treatments and your muscles get used to less movement and your botox may last longer.
What are the negative effects of Botox?
Negative Effects of Botox can include pain at the injection site, some redness, bruising or swelling. Less common effects can be temporary droop of eyelids or eyebrows and/or allergic reactions.
What happens if you stop getting Botox?
When you discontinue the use of Botox, regular muscle movement will eventually return and regain normal function leading to wrinkles and facial lines. There are no documented permanent changes to your facial muscles from using Botox.
What medications should you not take with Botox?
Certain medications may want to be avoided or used with caution prior to your treatment. Let your provider know if you are taking a blood thinner like warafin or NSAIDS such as ibuprofin or advil. These can lead to increased bleeding or bruising at the injection site. Certain supplements like fish oil can also increase this risk.
Can you drink alcohol after your Botox treatment?
We recommend waiting 24 hours post Botox treatment before drinking alcohol. Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
Can you go to the gym after Botox?
Avoid strenuous excercise for 24-48 hours after treatment.
